WHEREAS the State of Colorado has upgraded the State emergency radio system to 800 megahertz; and
WHEREAS the fugitive search operation in Montezuma County in the summer of 1998 proved the vital communication gap between the State radio system and rural government jurisdictions (the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office was unable to communicate over radio frequencies with State law enforcement agencies); and
WHEREAS such radio upgrades are extremely expensive.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that CLUB 20 supports the use of State dollars to help local jurisdictions upgrade to new State emergency radio standards and we request funding for investment in radio upgrades.
