WHEREAS access to and availability of advanced telecommunications services are important to enhancing the quality of life in Western Colorado; and
WHEREAS enhanced telecommunications infrastructure and technology offers almost unlimited opportunities for business development, on-line learning and health care delivery services; and
WHEREAS, in order to fully utilize the potential of improved telecommunications technology, communities must rethink how they do business and how they can integrate this technology into the delivery of their services,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that CLUB 20 encourages Western Colorado communities to
- Fully understand the potential before them as enhanced telecommunications infrastructure and technology is developed in their areas (including but not limited to high-speed internet, video-conferencing, web-conferencing, and wireless access),
- Work with other communities to learn how they have capitalized on this technology for the delivery of goods and services,
- Develop a vision for how they will integrate telecommunications technology into their economic development, education, and health care delivery efforts in order to improve the quality of life within their community.
AND BE IT DIRECTED that CLUB 20’s Business Affairs Committee and related subcommittees of Health Care, Telecommunications and Higher Education work together to educate Western Colorado communities about the potential of advanced telecommunications technology in their area and assist those communities in fully developing this potential.
