BA – 93 – 2-COLORADO RURAL DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL

WHEREAS The Governor has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Initiative on Rural America; and

WHEREAS The Governor, through the Executive Director of the Department of Local Affairs, has convened a Steering Committee to formulate a plan for creating a Colorado Rural Development Council; and

WHEREAS CLUB 20 represents 22 West Slope counties who can directly benefit from the formation of a Colorado Rural Development Council, the concept of the National Initiative on Rural America and supports the development of a Colorado Rural Development Council.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that CLUB 20 strongly urges the Executive Director of the Department of Local Affairs and the Council Steering Committee to keep the CLUB 20 counties together as a single voice in representing Western Colorado issues on the Council, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that CLUB 20 strongly urges the Governor, Executive Director of the Department of Local Affairs and the Council Steering Committee to maintain the headquarters office of the Rural Development Council in rural Colorado, preferably on the Western Slope.
