WHEREAS health care is a basic need of everyone; and
WHEREAS cost-shifting – discounting costs for one group and increasing costs for another – usually results in increased health care costs for those who can least afford it and those with the fewest health care alternatives; and
WHEREAS everyone should share in the cost of providing health care services; and
WHEREAS CLUB 20 recognizes that there are state & federal programs that mandate health coverage;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that CLUB 20 believes government should adequately fund its health care programs (such as Medicare, Medicaid, Affordable Care Act) to avoid any cost-shifting to the business and other private payers and supports efforts to eliminate governmental cost shifting among payers and health care providers; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that CLUB 20 believes the cost of health care procedures and pharmaceuticals should be managed effectively and not shifted to other private payers.
