WHEREAS CLUB 20 has steadfastly opposed the elimination of federal land management offices throughout the Western Slope because people who manage public lands ought to live and work near the communities whose economies their decisions affect (land management agencies should actually be further decentralized),
WHEREAS managing all the diverse areas within various forest service districts from a single office would inevitably result in neglect of one or the other, as has been proven in several other Western Slope areas where such restructuring has further isolated Forest Service managers from the areas they manage; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that CLUB 20 opposes consolidation and elimination of West Slope Forest Service offices.
