WHEREAS in response to various threats, the Transportation Security Administration has raised security at domestic commercial airports; and
WHEREAS Club 20 and the Western Colorado commercial airports in Club 20’s area support the Transportation Security Administration’s efforts to keep U. S. aviation as safe and secure as possible; and
WHEREAS the bulk of the cost of maintaining security has fallen on the commercial airport operators. The airport operators find these unexpected costs to be burdensome to the extent that they threaten the safety, capacity and mere existence of the Western Colorado commercial airports,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Club 20 urges the Transportation Security Administration to establish alternate, affordable security measures for smaller airports, or provide funding for the existing, mandated security measures so that the onerous financial burden will be lifted from smaller commercial airports.
