TO-10-1-CDL Requirements for Passenger Vans

WHEREAS Colorado’s tourism industry is an important part of western Colorado’s economy, and is comprised primarily of small family-owned businesses, and

WHEREAS many within this industry depend on the use of passenger vans to shuttle their clientele, and

WHEREAS federal legislation or regulations have been proposed to require the drivers of passenger vans to maintain Commercial Drivers Licenses (CDL), and

WHEREAS requiring such CDL’s will place a huge economic burden on western Colorado’s tourism businesses without any measurable benefit to society; and

WHEREAS many people rely on these vehicles for basic mobility services;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Club 20 opposes any requirement that the drivers of passenger vans less than 16 people be required to maintain a Commercial Drivers License.
