AG-96-2-Taxes on Farmland, Inheritance and Estate

WHEREAS sustaining the agricultural economy of the West depends upon the ability of families to pass along the farm from one generation to the next; and

WHEREAS state inheritance and federal estate taxes make passing farms to the next generation very difficult, and often impossible; and

WHEREAS there is a strong public interest in facilitating such inheritance, so long as the farm remains in agriculture;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that CLUB 20 supports permanent elimination of agriculture estate taxes.
