BA-13-1-Immigration Reform, Support for

WHEREAS CLUB 20 supports immigration reform that reinforces economic strength and stability on a state and federal level that will be viable as the American economy and culture continue to evolve; and

WHEREAS CLUB 20 encourages national immigration policies that serve to protect national security, stimulate the domestic economy and enhance our nation’s image in the world; and

WHEREAS CLUB 20 members recognize that the growing consequences of a broken immigration system must be addressed in a bi-partisan effort, and;

WHEREAS CLUB 20 Immigration reform Principles (Attached herewith) support the Colorado Compact which acted as a catalyst for Immigration Reform Consideration by Congress and;

WHEREAS the Congressional Budget Office analysis of the Immigration Reform Bill to be considered by the U.S. Congress estimates that fixing the U.S. immigration system will reduce the federal deficit and increase Gross Domestic Product;  and

WHEREAS CLUB 20 is supportive of an Immigration Reform Bill that continues to maintain support  from a diverse cross section of industry, agriculture and labor groups at the local, state, and national level;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that CLUB 20 encourages Colorado’s congressional delegates to support an Immigration Reform bill that reflects the CLUB 20 Immigration Reform Principles, the broad coalition and the bi-partisan nature of the bill passed by the Senate in June 2013.
