WHEREAS state school lands were originally set aside to provide revenue for public schools in rural areas; and
WHEREAS such lands now support a substantial agriculture economy, and provide revenue to the State school system; and
WHEREAS controversy over public access to such lands, and the drive for increased revenues has prompted some legislators to consider selling such lands; and
WHEREAS such sale of public lands is ill-advised because it would deprive the public of resources, and the school system of long-term revenues,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that CLUB 20 opposes any plan to sell state school lands without local government support
